Our story

A love of learning, resilience, kindness, effective communication and a strong sense of self-worth.

These are the attributes that are nurtured and celebrated in secondary schools.

I spent 14 years in secondary education, both as a teacher and as a school leader, because I believe in its power to transform the lives of individuals and society at large.

When I became a parent, I began to focus on nurturing these same qualities in my own children – and of course all the parents I spent time with were doing the same, sharing the joys, the challenges and the hilarious moments that come with raising small people.

Gradually, as we started to return to our careers, it was time to pass this most important of batons to someone else while we went off to work. Yet when it came to looking for a nursery for my daughter, I couldn’t find what I was looking for. My husband and I wanted the high-quality education and nurturing environment of a preschool, but we also really needed the hours of a nursery to cover a working day, all year round.

Out of these experiences as a parent and teacher, the idea for Two Hands Preschool was born. At Two Hands, we set a new standard for early years education, where qualified teachers deliver an exceptional education and parents get the advantages of flexible, full-time care. As a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching, having a preschool that engages with research in early years education is very important to me. Our staff are given the time and space to do this so that we know we are delivering the highest quality education.

To ensure every family benefits, we offer one in five places free to children from low-income families. Our mission is to positively transform society for generations to come, helping children develop those vital qualities they’ll need, and ensuring they love learning for life.

If you’d like to get in touch to ask any questions, please call on 020 8132 3294 and you’ll come straight through to me. Or if you see me around Brook Green on the weekend (probably in the playground or at the farmers’ market), please say “Hi”!

Alexandra Esposito,
Headteacher

Alex has spent the last 14 years as the nursery manager and an early years teacher in a nursery attached to a primary school in north London, rated by Ofsted as outstanding.

Hello!

My name is Alexandra and I am the Headteacher here at Two Hands Preschool. I am so excited to meet you!

I can’t wait to find out all about you - what you love doing and what you don’t like doing at all, what makes you laugh and what makes you angry, what your favourite stories are and whether you find jumping off a log super fun or super scary. You will get to know each other, you’ll get to know me and the other teachers here too and Two Hands will feel like home for you, somewhere you feel safe, listened to and loved.

We have so much here that you can explore and play with, as you become learners for life. We will use our voices and ears to sing, to talk and to listen to each other, to laugh and to play. We will use our hands to make music, to build, to dig and to make art. When you need a little help, our teachers will support you to understand your emotions, to take turns, to be kind to each other and kind to our environment and to be a good friend.

I can’t wait for us to use our imagination as we role-play in the home corner cooking a meal or dressing up and pretending to be a firefighter putting out fires and rescuing our friends. We will also have fun together going on little trips out to the park and into our wonderful community. In our own garden, you can be little explorers looking for mini-beasts, little riders as you race me on our bikes and little scientists as we observe together what happens to the environment in the different seasons.  My favourite is to have some quiet time where we will share some fantastic stories and have a little snuggle. There are lots of new things for you to try, new foods to taste and new skills to learn. When someone from home picks you up each day, we want you to be able to shout proudly: “I did it”! And then be excited to come back to us the next day to do it all again.

I really can’t wait to meet you. See you soon!
